Thirteenth (a Buzz Compilation)

Thirteenth (a Buzz compilation) October 2008

The Buzz club night has been pushing the boundaries of underground alternative 50's, & 60's dance music in the UK for the past 13 years. The Buzz has helped generate interest and passion for music long past it's sell-by date by the majority of the UK and US music scene, even though every now and again, you come across an add-campaign or Nu-R&B track sampled straight from an old Buzz dance floor classic!

It's been quite some time since we last produced a Buzz compilation album, and as it's our 13th year we are just going to call it 13th (Thirteenth).

There are a couple of classics but the majority are dance floor friendly tracks that I'm sure you are going hear played out sometime in 2009. Or probably as part of the next Sugar Babes single.

Anyhow enjoy ;0)

FUNDRAISING SOUL NIGHT FOR M.I.N.D

The man behind the successful Buzz club night in Northamptonshire, Robert Glover, has announced a fundraising Northern and Rare Soul night in tribute to a close friend who passed away one year ago to a bi-polar disorder.

The Buzz Co are hosting Yum Yum – The Lost Soul Night from 10:00pm – 3:00am on Saturday, 29 March, 2008 at Bibliotek, 24 Castillion Street, Northampton, with all door proceeds and collections on the evening going to M.I.N.D, the mental health charity.

Rob explains more:
“We had been friends with Steve for many years, enjoying scooter rallies, Mod and soul events throughout the 80’s and 90’s. We held a fundraising event in his memory last year, at the Monks Park Working Men’s Club and this year we wanted to carry on that tradition and raise some more much needed cash for the M.I.N.D. charity. This time though we have a new venue and are going on until 3am so I think Steve would have appreciated this extended dancing and socializing session.”

Admission is £4.00 before 11:00pm and £5.00 after with the finest in Northern and Rare Soul, deep funk, ska, rhythm & blues, reggae, Motown and crossover being played. The Buzz Co have been putting on popular nights in Northamptonshire since 1995 so you can expect a great night out and all for a good cause too.

Some of these tunes have been massive hits at The Buzz for the last few years and the rest will hopefully make you come along and request them.
I don't know a massive amount (if anything) about these groups other than they are all American Garage Bands from the late to mid 1960's and rare as hens teeth.
Anyway, download and enjoy the experience.

Ballroom Blitz

Event name: Ballroom Blitz
Event date: Saturday 19th January
Venue: The New Roadmender
Admission price: £5 before 11pm & £6.50 after
Concessions: Dress up to impress for concessions on admission price. Punk, Glam, Disco, Reggae, the flavour is your choice.
Time: 10pm – 2am

Ballroom Blitz is the latest night from the people behind The Buzz, Northampton’s longest running alternative dance night. This time we have decided to delve in to the 1970’s for a night of fun, flares, music and mayhem.
However, this wont be your usual 70’s Disco night. We will be embracing other diverse and groundbreaking forms of music popular during that decade.

The Music Policy.

“The 1st January 1970 to the 31st December 1979. 120 months of the most eclectic music from the decade that gave us: Disco, Punk, New Wave, Glam Reggae, Funk, Bubblegum Pop and everything in-between. Backcomb that Afro, drip-dry those flares, secure those safety pins, and get ready for the party of that decade”

We will be utilising 3 rooms at Northampton’s legendary Roadmender venue with 70’s Soul, Disco, Reggae & Funk in the main hall. Punk, New Wave, Glam & Bubblegum Pop in the Front Bar & Cult 70’s movies and TV in the CafĂ© BarFeature Films:
